Fall Is Here

Last week we went to Acadia National Park.  We hiked the Great Head Trail.

It goes over bridges….

through the woods…..

then comes out on Sand Beach.

It was really pretty & the sand felt good between our toes

We stopped at Thunder Hole.

Thunder Hole is the place in Acadia National Park to experience the thunder of the sea against the rocky shores of Maine! On calm days you may wonder what the fuss is all about. But wait until the waves kick up a few notches. Thunder Hole is a small inlet, naturally carved out of the rocks, where the waves roll into. At the end of this inlet, down low, is a small cavern where, when the rush of the wave arrives, air and water is forced out like a clap of distant thunder. Water may spout as high as 40 feet with a thunderous roar! Hence the name: Thunder Hole.

We didn’t get any of the water spray, but we did hear the thunder when some of the waves came in.

We went to the top of Cadillac Mountain

and tried to pose for a picture.

Today we went back to the park to see if there was much change in the leaf changing.  We have some color, but it’s not really the spectacular colors yet.

We took a short hike

Do you notice Phoebe has less hair this week?

Phoebe & Annie (the neighbor) went to the beauty shop together this week.  I don’t have to go because my hair doesn’t grow crazy like theirs.  Anyway, the groomer discovered they both had fleas!  Turns out all the workampers dogs have fleas even with our monthly flea treatment!  So, yesterday we got sprayed with cinnamon smelling organic flea spray…now we smell like a Christmas candle~ LOL!

Mom washed all the bed & couch covers and rugs while Dad sprinkled borax on the carpet and vacuumed.  The lady at the pet store said fleas are really bad this year and people need to supplement the monthly frontline treatments.  We feel better now, but we’ll probably smell like Christmas for a few weeks.

Things are good here…getting cold and it’s been raining more lately.  I’ve been on a bit of a hunger strike this week…I ate a cheeseburger the other day, but I don’t have any appetite for dog food or scrambled eggs in the morning.

That’s all for now…
