Still on Vacation…
We left our Gate on May 1st, and have been traveling and having fun for almost a month.
When we left our gate, we just drove about 80 miles up to Hondo. We spent 3 days there visiting with The Jackson’s, who Mom & Dad worked with in Arizona 5 years ago. We hadn’t seen them for a couple years, so it was great to catch up. Also met another couple that’s friends of theirs, and they are gate guards too.
We left there and drove to Fort Stockton, TX for the night. They have Paisano Pete…Formerly the world’s largest roadrunner statue, but at 20 feet long and 15 feet tall Pete’s still pretty big.
We left Fort Stockton and drove to Deming, NM. We stayed at the Escapees Co-Op park there.
This Rig was parked next to us there. We’ve never seen anything like this going down the road before.
They had a nice fenced in dog park with real grass. Lucy had a great time chasing her ball.
From there we went to Tucson, AZ and spent a couple days visiting a friend.
Then we drove to Apache Junction, AZ for a week. We have a few friends there. We stayed at the same park as Jim & Sandie. Hadn’t seen them in a few years, so it was good to visit again. My social skills aren’t very good, but Lucy really enjoyed meeting them.
We got to go visit our Aunt Pat & Myra and their dogs Raven & ShuShu. Even I was pretty well behaved, after I wore myself out barking and realized no one was paying any attention to me.
We left Arizona, and drove up the Joshua Forest Parkway to Kingman, AZ. As you would expect, the road was lined with Joshu Trees.
Then we drove on to Las Vegas, Nevada. We stayed at the KOA RV park at Circus Circus, right on the Strip. The grandkid flew out from Georgia and stayed with us for 4 days. When he left, we got baths. KOA had a nice Doggy Shower and Mom couldn’t pass up an opportunity to clean us up.
Then we moved to the RV park at Sam’s Town out on Boulder Hwy. Quieter & less expensive park to relax for a few days.
On Memorial day, we left and drove to Cedar City, Utah. We parked at another KOA campground. Today we drove to Bryce Canyon National Park. If you haven’t been tot he Utah Canyons, you really need to put it on your list. Here’s some photos of the incredible views.
We grabbed a photo op on one of the park benches. We stopped for a drink & rest, but were still pretty tired from the hike.

Lake Panguitch
There was still snow on the side of the road in places…Lucy got introduced to snow!
Phoebe & I just tasted it.
I think we’re going to drive to Zion National Park tomorrow.
Texas has been having terrible rain and storms this week. We’re glad we’re not working a gate in that weather but worried about our friends. Y’all stay safe down there, we’ll be back in a couple weeks.
